Pre-remodel kitchen since 2003. Use the on-screen controls or left/right keyboard arrows to navigate.
And the demo begins
Future island mapping
I installed this laminate in 2003, the year I bought the house
The antique Tappan oven/stove stood the test of time. But time to say goodbye.
Long overdue putting the 70's ceramic tile countertop to rest
Linoleum classic from the 70's
Kitchen attic planning. Is that a bearing wall? I don't think so...
Thought to photograph old plumbing before demo
Final massive demo. Wall is coming down
LR/DR protected from a LOT of dust/dirt
Judy gets all of the plastic credit. She did a great job protecting things
The den/tv room...it will get worse
As long as Monica has her ball, she doesn't care what is going on around her.
Panoramic view
We lived on microwave food for a long time
A lot of electrical work
I installed Hardie Board because we were set on putting tile flooring in the kitchen. We ended up doing LVP instead. Oh well.
Shannan making sure the concrete Hardie Board doesn't go anywhere. Thank you Shannan!
New cabinets install!
Judy dealing with what seemed like endless dust and dirt.
Quartzite Fusion install!
The extra storage Judy and I dreamed of
I brought home a TON of tile samples. But nothing vibed for us, so we went the LVP route.
New kitchen sink plumbing
We LOVE our new hybrid granite sink and touchless faucet.
Beloved laminate of old coming up to be replaced with LVP. Installing that laminate was my first big home job in 2003...thanks for your help on that Mr. Pepe.
Frank at home depot. He was a great flooring install helper
Damnit! The gas valve is 3 inches too far toward the end for the new oven's rear cavity. More work to move the gas line. Judy thought I was going to blow up the house. Crossed my mind too.
Lots of crawl space electrical and gas line work. I'm crawling in the dirt and Monica still just wanted to play fetch
LG dual fuel double oven. So nice after that antique Tappan.
The girls just going with the flow
No movie watching in the den for awhile
Judy thought all of my tools would never see the garage again
Backsplash shopping. Went with this Ivory Travertine.
New LVP flooring. We love it
Girls are cool with it too
Starting to look like a home again
How does a guy without a pickup truck get a 16 foot piece of trim home? 16 foot seems MUCH longer when you're trying to transport in a sedan. Monica was obviously impressed!
Backsplash prep
A practice tile to cut a hole in the middle for a socket. Takes a little finesse but not too bad.
We were going to going with cute animal tiles for accent, but opted not to. They'll go somewhere else in the near future.
I was super methodical cutting and laying out the tile as this was my first tile job using a tile saw, thinset, grout and caulk. Now I'm ready for the next job!
Tiles thinset set and now for the grouting. Another first for me.
Final kitchen photos after FINALLY finishing the backsplash install, which was a LOT of work.
Start to finish was about one year. That included two bathroom remodels, which will be part of a separate allbum. It was fun but we're SO happy it is done.
